Children aged 2 to 17 are typically eligible for the nasal spray flu vaccine, as recommended by the HSE. Staff may also receive flu vaccines depending on eligibility and school preference.

How is the children’s flu vaccine administered?

The children’s flu vaccine is given as a quick and painless nasal spray, making it ideal for young students and less stressful than an injection.

Is parental consent required for the school vaccination?

Yes, informed parental or guardian consent is required. Consent is managed through our secure, GDPR-compliant digital platform, and printed forms can be provided on request.

When will the school vaccinations take place?

The school flu vaccination clinics will be held between late September and early October 2025, depending on vaccine availability and your school’s chosen date. We’ll confirm clinic dates in early September.

How long does a school vaccination clinic take?

Most school clinics are completed within a few hours, depending on the number of students being vaccinated. We schedule time efficiently to avoid disrupting the school day.

Are there any side effects to the flu vaccine?

Side effects are usually mild and short-lived, such as a runny nose or headache. Serious side effects are extremely rare. Full information will be provided to parents in advance.
